Valentines Recipes

Cooking comes from the heart. In cooking for the ones we love, we are expressing love in every action, and our love is experienced in every bite. Cooking a simple meal at home can be much more romantic than dining out at a fancy restaurant.

What makes a food romantic? It can be an old favorite dish dressed up in new garnish; many times cooking your love’s favorite foods is most romantic.

Trying new foods or new ingredients can make the dish romantic. A drizzle of truffle oil or a taste of caviar is definitely considered romantic.

Expensive foods such a lobster, steak, and shrimp are considered romantic, mostly because we save these foods for special occasions. Their presence on the menu designates the meal as a special one.

But foods do not have to be expensive to be romantic. Consider the romance of a picnic consisting of only a bottle of wine, loaf of bread and chunk of cheese.  The setting and intimacy of the simple meal make it romantic.

Some of these recipes are suggested because of their color: red or pink for valentines day. Others for the richness of the sauce or the romance of the presentation. Enjoy!

I will be adding new recipes to this page daily leading up to Valentines Day on the 14th. Stop by regularly to check out the new recipes.
